A Scholastic Resource for Fostering Multiculturalism in the Classroom

World Rainbow

Many Languages, Many Cultures

Link to a resource article on how to encourage multicultural awareness in your school, classroom, and  with your students and their families. Sound advice and strategies to help bridge the “gap” in cultural understanding, including how to foster interest in bilingualism, and parent  involvement in school. If your school has a diverse population, this article is for you! We all have something to learn from other cultures, and language is a very integral part of that. Encourage an ELL to share what they know of their first language, and you will get an interested ELL. Also, it’s a great opportunity to show how willing you are as a teacher to learn something new. Kids don’t forget when you try to get to know more about their lives, their language, and their family traditions.
